Journey with Autism – Allow common humanity to unite us

-

The Fourth of July is a mainly-filled-with-picnics holiday. Fireworks bloom in the night sky. And children wave flags and watch motored floats line up to follow the parade route.

The bands play old patriotic rolling tunes and, if you’re lucky, somewhere in your day you’ll see an old soldier in uniform marking our independence with humble pride.

Coming to America, men and women gave the mostly rough new land simple meaning. It was in wonder of the hope of dignity and lives not oppressed by tyranny. How badly we need to reflect on our independence in these times.

Freedom does not mean a lack of responsibility to uphold the rights of everyone in our great land.

All of us are created equal, but life somehow divides us into categories. We insist we would put our lives on the line to be able to speak whatever we believe is truth; however, words and opinions do not equal the truth and facts aren’t meant to be manipulated to fit our agendas.

We must care equally for all men, women and children regardless of their race or gender or living conditions. We must not allow hate to be our weapon in defending our ideals in this country.

In this optimistic, healing time, may we remember how we came to be a nation where we strove as one, never letting our differences ultimately divide us, instead how our common humanity unites us.
