To say what a year it has been is an understatement.
This time last year we were trying to understand what was going on. We wondered how the uncertainties would impact our daily lives. Through it all, the resilience of Naperville residents has been outstanding.
When restaurants could only offer carry-out, everyone ordered online and showed support in keeping local restaurants in business. All during last summer when visitors came from across the county, everyone around town showed support during our #masksinNaperville campaign.
As we head into this summer, I’m personally looking forward to seeing everyone’s smile in full bloom. Smiling is good for our emotional essence and a simple gesture which goes a long way in lifting someone’s spirits.
Reconnecting with friends and family and as a community is going to be key as we move forward. Naperville’s attractions, restaurants, hotels, and outdoor spaces will make it easier for us to do so.
TopGolf has three decks of driving range with bays facing the outdoors. WhirlyBall combines lacrosse, hockey, basketball, and bumper cars making it a great outing. Let us not forget Bowlero, where they offer arcade, billiards, laser tag, and, of course, bowling.
Outdoor attractions include Paddleboats and Kayaking at the Riverwalk Quarry, recreation at Centennial Beach, and plenty of trails at the Forest Preserve for hiking and biking. Naper Settlement is a 13-acre outdoor history museum which connects us to history while looking ahead to the future.
Hotel Arista, a AAA Four Diamond luxury hotel and spa will take you to the next level of luxury and relaxation. Hotel Indigo at the Riverwalk is a boutique hotel featuring neighborhood charm, accessible to downtown restaurants and specialty shops.
For staycations, we have 17 hotels ready to welcome you and make your visit a memorable one. The Marriott and Embassy are full-service and the Courtyard, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express or Best Western are just a few of the many other hotel choices. Find the full list at VisitNaperville.com.
This summer, Al fresco dining will be very popular. Here is a list of some of the restaurants offering this option: Fat Rosie’s, Fogo de Chao, Granite City, Lazy Dog, CityGate Grille, Meson Sabika, Allegory, and Vai’s Italian Kitchen & Bar, just to name a few. For a full list, visit DineNaperville.com.
Thank you, Naperville residents, for your continued support of each other, through personal connections and always shopping local.
