Focus on Safety – Partnering with our business community

-

Throughout this year we’ve used our Safer Naper campaign to highlight our partnerships within the community. Those partners that help keep our crime rates low and make our community a safe place to live and work. This month, we are spotlighting our business community.

The Naperville Police Department works with the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Naperville Alliance as well as individual businesses to make our community A Safer Naper. A downtown beat officer is also in place to work closely with downtown businesses to address their specific needs and unique concerns.

We also offer in-person BASSETT certification training, ensuring that sellers and servers of alcohol understand Illinois and Naperville laws regarding the sale and service of alcohol.

Throughout the City, we work with all types of businesses to help prevent scams and fraud. We have educated employees on ways to identify possible scams as well as identify some of the red flags to look out for if someone has fallen victim to a scam.

We also partner with all our hotels to reduce criminal activity by providing security assessments to identify areas of concern and reduce opportunities for crime. Many of our hotels and businesses have also invited us to provide critical incident training to keep their employees and customers safe and give them options on how to respond to an active shooter.

During the holidays, we partnered with our local delivery companies to increase drivers’ situational awareness as well as training drivers about alternative options for package placement to reduce thefts.

These are just a few of the many ways we’ve partnered with businesses to improve crime prevention and safety in our city. Find out more about our business partnerships at www.naperville.il.us/ASaferNaper. We look forward to continuing our work with these partners as well as creating new partnerships to help make our community “A Safer Naper.”
