Little Friends launches $10 million capital campaign

-

It has been over 28 years since Little Friends has launched a formal capital campaign. In early April on the day celebrating National Autism Awareness day, we announced our Building Futures campaign aimed at raising $10 Million over the next three to five years. While unprecedented related to the overall financial objective, our goal is to raise money to improve our facilities, increase programmatic capacity, and help build an endowment for the organization.

The reality we see every day is that the need for services for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities is astounding, and the current demand for these services outstrips the supply. To continue providing the best possible care to the children and adults we serve, we face the need to modernize our facilities and enhance our programmatic capacity to ensure the highest quality of care. Our move and creation of a new facility that houses all our schools under one roof is just part of what we see need for building in our future.

While we have formally announced this initiative, we have been fortunate to raise in commitments over $4.2 Million in support over the past year. We cannot thank enough those who have contributed to this new initiative.

Admittedly much of the money that has been pledged to date will go specifically toward the renovation costs we have incurred to finalize our new educational facility. While we have 23 new classrooms in our new building, we still have unfinished space to build another 15 classrooms that could increase our total student capacity to over 300 children. Some of the money we hope to raise in the time ahead will go toward this planned future growth.

Setting into motion the mechanisms to help us grow and position the organization to serve our community in the future is rewarding. However, the true rewards come from knowing we will be in position to help the individuals we serve and support their families. It is why we are doing this, and as such hope that you will consider helping us when the opportunity presents itself.
