Above / Loaves & Fishes Community Services aims “to provide healthy food and impactful programs to promote self-sufficiency.” For the benefit of mothers’ giving and receiving, the nonprofit business is hosting a Special Mother’s Day Virtual Food Drive.
Loaves & Fishes invites the public to participate in a special Mother’s Day Food Drive. Mothers who struggle with food insecurity skip meals, forgo medical care and work multiple jobs to make sure their kids have what they need. Loaves & Fishes is hosting a Mother’s Day Virtual Food Drive to support families in our community who need our help.
The Loaves & Fishes food assistance program provides weekly access to nutritious foods. Pre-pandemic, they were serving about 787 families a week. Now they are often serving over 1,100 families a week. This represents 4,037 residents, including 1,457 children, each week. Each client receives approximately 100 pounds of food (a healthy variety that includes dry goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, and milk & eggs) per visit.
