Moser Tower is closed to public for rehab, summer recital season canceled

-

Above / Naperville Park District officials have announced the Moser Tower with the Millennium Carillon and Visitor Center will be closed for the season as rehabilitation is planned to begin after Memorial Day and continue through fall 2021. Following the April 20, 2021, City Council meeting, the evening view of Moser Tower was a reminder of Earth Week.

The Naperville Millennium Carillon in Moser Tower and the Visitor Center, located at 443 Aurora Avenue, are closed for the 2021 season due to the planned rehabilitation of Moser Tower.

The City of Naperville is set to begin work on Moser Tower in June and anticipates that the work will continue through the summer and fall.

Early in April 2021, the iconic Moser Tower was shining blue to heighten awareness for acceptance and understanding during Autism Awareness Month.

Naperville Park District operates tours and programs at Moser Tower and at the Visitor Center under an inter-governmental agreement with the City of Naperville. The Park District is closing both facilities to the public for the 2021 season during construction, and also is canceling the annual Tuesday evening Summer Recital Series.

For 2021, climbs up the steps in Moser Tower to the observation deck will be on hold. When again open, on a clear day visitors can view “Tree City,” the Naperville Municipal Center, downtown Naperville and Ss. Peter and Paul steeple, to name just a few sights.

Weekly Carillon Concerts will be performed in April and May

Note, however, the weekly concerts performed on the 72-bell carillon at noon on Saturdays and 3PM on Sundays in April and 4PM on Sundays in May will continue until construction begins in June. Once construction begins, the bells will be silenced until the rehabilitation is complete in fall 2021.
