On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at approximately 7:10AM, Naperville Police officers responded to Solo Liquors, 1474 E Chicago Ave., for a burglar alarm activation.
Upon arrival at the business, responding officers found the glass had been shattered out of the front door. It was later determined that the suspect entered the business via the front door and took cigarettes and liquor.
Through video evidence obtained at the business and further investigation by Naperville officers, a suspect description was obtained and disseminated to other officers citywide. A Naperville police officer, who had previously assisted DuPage County Sheriff Deputies on an unrelated call, recalled that the subject being spoken to by the deputies matched the suspect description in the burglary.
The investigating officers responded to the scene where the subject was still out speaking with the deputies. The clothing and description of the subject on scene matched that of the suspect observed in the video recording. Additionally, proceeds from the burglary were discovered at his location.
The suspect, Mark Wilson, 41, of the 6000 block of S. Harper Ave. in Chicago, was taken into custody without incident. Wilson was subsequently charged with one felony count of burglary and one felony count of criminal damage and was later transported to the DuPage County Jail.
“We were able to solve this investigation expeditiously because of the collaborative efforts of our department’s patrol officers, and I would like to thank them for their expertise and commitment to bringing this case to a close,” said Police Chief Robert Marshall.
The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
