More memories of snow creations throughout Naperville

-

Since 2010, PN has been taking photos after Napervillians have played in the snow…And sometimes, such as Oct. 30, 2019, the snowmen have been caught reading Positively Naperville.

February 2021 / A weekend of perfect-for-packing snow at the end of January gave neighbors a chance to be creative all over town. And thanks to Jo Lundeen, we have a couple new photos to prove it.

And we wonder… Do you think the snow creatures were built with bear hands?

This snow bear has his eye on the honey. Find it along Countryside Circle in Old Farm.

February 2021 / During recess along Eagle Street, young students took a break from remote learning to build a “snowman” fort, complete with all the comforts of flashlights to see inside in the dark.

December 2016 / Dozens of kids playing at Sled Hill rolled the Great Snow Ball into place along the snow fence at May Watts Park on a Sunday afternoon in mid-December 2016.

This humongous snowball was around until Jan. 23, 2017.

February 2015 / Folks along Raintree in the Countryside subdivision first built a snow heart for Valentine’s Day six years ago. The big heart has returned for 2021!

Winters since 2010 featured big snow creatures along 11th Street…

Complete snow stories have sometimes been featured along 11th Street, just west of Columbia. PN’s first glimpse of the family’s creativity was when they built a snow Huskie in 2010.

NNHS Huskie goes for a bone in 2010.

In 2015, the folks who live here are hooked on snow sculptures. Every year they seem to create something more attractive than the one the previous year! Note the rodent below!

Could this snow rodent be nocturnal?

February 2015 / We love to play in the snow!  Apparently, Februarys in recent years presented the best snows for packing and building snow creatures.

Snow was perfect for packing on Feb. 1, 2015, in near-blizzard conditions.

Super Bowl Sunday 2012 / Folks had some fun in West Wind when Chicago Bears fans were hot and it was cold and good for packers in Illinois. That day, the Giants defeated the Patriots by the score of 21–17 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the first time the Super Bowl was played in Indiana. Tom Brady played for the Patriots back then. Cheers!

February 2011 / During the snow season that kept the ground mostly covered with the frosty white stuff beyond Groundhog Day 2011, hundreds of snowmen and other snow creatures dotted the Naperville landscape.

From the Riverwalk Amphitheater to all points north, east, west and south, we’ve discovered whimsy in all shapes and sizes as kids of all ages got rolling and packed snow into art and fortresses.

Whenever the snow is the wet, snowman-building variety; bundle up and enjoy the great outdoors.

December 2010 / A Snow Choir in the Riverwalk Amphitheatre magically appeared for the holiday season when a bunch of college students returned home for a little fun during the winter break.

Remember this 40-plus member “snow choir” in the Riverwalk Amphitheater back in 2010? Built in the late afternoon, the following day the temperature climbed and all the snowmen were gone by noon.

PN likely will help you read all about it. Thanks for reading.
