When you, the buyer, go out to look at homes on the internet or in person, you probably compare the homes you see with the home or apartment you live in. Most of us do that. It is only natural. You are aware of the shortcomings of your existing home. You will want to buy a property that does not have the same drawbacks. There are also features in your present home that you really enjoy and don’t want to be without them in the next house.
So, as you preview each property online or visit in person, you either consciously or unconsciously compare what you are seeing with what you already have. This ability to compare gives you a distinct advantage over your Realtor who is possibly not familiar with your existing home. Your Realtor will use his or her best efforts to show you properties that seem to be what you say you want. Without knowing your present home as well as you do, however, it is difficult to look at available listings through your eyes and choose only those that meet your needs.
Let me propose a shortcut to your house hunting that will put you into the right properties more quickly. Invite your Realtor to visit you in your existing home or apartment. Let him or her see the features you would like to improve upon in the next house and those that you would like to duplicate.
LESS WASTED TIME
You will look at homes your Realtor knows you would be interested in seeing.
TOTALLY FOCUSED REALTOR
Your Realtor will understand your situation first hand. When scheduling a showing for you, your Realtor will evaluate each listing in advance so you know he or she is selecting homes as you would yourself. And if they are smart, they will save the best for last!
