The Y – Safety, assurance and enrichment continue

-

Happy New Year to all!

While the return to school after winter break may look different than previous years, one thing remains the same: the YMCA Safe ‘n Sound School Age program continues to be a place where children can remain active, learning and engaged during their time out of school – a critical time for all school-age children, especially as they continue to adjust to the many changes related to COVID-19. Each year, the Y works to provide engaging activities in a caring and safe environment, and this year will be no different.

The YMCA Safe ‘n Sound program has served the Naperville community for more than 30 years, during which we have made it through many challenging times together, none perhaps as impactful as COVID-19. As an organization dedicated to youth development, we know how important it is that our children have a safe and enriching environment for learning, both in and out of school. We are pleased to be able to provide support to the children in our community, allowing their invaluable social, emotional, physical and academic growth to continue.

Through a balanced approach to youth development, and in partnership with our school districts, the Y program has offered and continues to offer activities, mentorship and academic support, nurturing the potential of all participants throughout the school year. We have modified our programming to better support families when their children are learning virtually.

In order to help keep kids and staff healthy and safe throughout this school year, The Naperville YMCAs, following CDC, state and local requirements and guidelines, and have adapted several changes to its day-to-day operations, including:

  • Mask requirements for staff and children
  • Daily health screenings for children and staff
  • All groups are structured in pods for all activities
  • Increase sanitizing of high-touch spaces

We are looking forward to a bright 2021 and continuing to serve children and families through programs that complement our local school districts return to learn plans.
