The end of 2020

-

December is here, as are the holidays and the end of 2020. This year was certainly action packed and filled with its fair share of stressors and losses, but I feel as if everyone overlooks the small bits of good that happened all around the world, throughout our country, and in our own neighborhoods.

I have a couple favorites that really highlight the joyful parts of this year. Among them is when Havahan Karadeniz, a Turkish woman who was checked into a local hospital, was met with applause from both medical staff, as well as local support who came out to celebrate this 107-year-old’s victory over COVID-19. Another great moment was when major companies like Apple and Ford shifted gears to help produce masks and ventilators at a reasonable price to support and protect our nation.

And in Naperville, animal shelters have reported an all-time low number of occupants as our community answers the request for extra adoptions.

All around the world, good people have come together in support of those who need it most. It sounds a bit cheesy, but the truth is that this year helped us all remember what is most important — people.

Twenty-twenty has had its challenges, but we cannot forget to remember the happy parts and all of the tiny blessings we have received. With that said, now it’s time to look ahead to the next year – one filled with countless possibilities for great change in our cities and our homes.

Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and get ready for a great New Year.
