Naperville Park District announces COVID-19 Tier 3 impacts

-

Beginning with Fort Hill Activity Center, located on Fort Hill Drive at Quincy Avenue, the following is overview of Naperville Park District’s changes in operations of facilities and programs per Governor’s order.

Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations required by Governor Pritzker’s Executive Order are set to begin November 20 in response to recent increases in coronavirus cases. Naperville Park District has posted new restrictions and guidelines for its facilities and programs at www.napervilleparks.org/coronavirusinformation/tier-3-mitigation-update.

Fort Hill Activity Center is open for members only for use of the fitness center and track. Face coverings are required at all times, even when exercising, and users must make reservations in advance through the NaperParks app to use the facilities. Both the fitness center and track will operate with a 25 percent maximum capacity and locker rooms are closed. All indoor athletic and other recreational programs are cancelled, with the exception of personal training or one-on-one instruction. Fort Hill Fitness continues to offer virtual group exercise classes and will add more virtual classes in lieu of in-person programs.

Knoch Knolls Nature Center is located at 320 Knoch Knolls Road, off 95th Street.

As of Friday, November 20, Knoch Knolls Nature Center will close temporarily until further notice. The outdoor amenities at Knoch Knolls Park remain available for use, including the 18-hole disc golf course, playground, and trails.

Find Springbrook Golf Course at 2220 83rd Street.

Springbrook and Naperbrook Golf Courses will remain open as weather allows, with no additional restrictions required.

Sportsman Park is located at 735 S. West Street.

Sportsman’s Trapshooting Range will maintain its Thursday and Sunday hours; however, reservations will be required.

Park District outdoor amenities such as playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis and pickleball courts, trails and fields will be open, with the caveat that gathering at any one location is restricted to ten or fewer persons. Teams may practice outdoors in groups of 10 or fewer with social distancing; competitive play is not permissible.

If Tier 3 mitigation requirements are lifted during a program session the Park District will contact participants with additional information for resuming the program.  Participants will receive a refund at the conclusion of the program session for classes or practices that are missed as a result of the program suspension.

Located off Whispering Hills Road in West Wind, May Watts Park features a sled hill, soon to welcome winter play.

“We encourage community members to find activities to enjoy outdoors or virtually while Tier 3 restrictions are in place,” said Brad Wilson, director of recreation and facilities. “We appreciate our residents’ support and patience while we take steps to protect everyone’s health.”
