Loaves & Fishes: Thankful Hearts

-

During these uncertain times, like many others, we have had to modify our services. What we have not modified, though, is the hope we share and the impact we have on our clients. It is only because of our community’s support that we have been able to continue offering healthy food and impactful programs during this pandemic. I am humbled and grateful to see how we have come together, so charitable organizations can weather the storm to provide important services to those that need them most.

I feel proud and privileged to work with Loaves & Fishes when I hear the story about a single mother of two children who lost her temp job when her office closed due to COVID-19. She continued to look for work as she waited for unemployment insurance. While she was able to secure work, our Loaves & Fishes CARES team helped cover past due rent so that she could renew her lease.

Over the past several months, I was afforded the opportunity to witness how, even during a pandemic, there were smiling faces as cars with families pulled up to pick up their food. It reminded me that food brings people together, in good times and bad. As the holidays approach, I will be extra grateful this year as I sit around the dinner table with my family-thankful that we live in a community that is dedicated to coming together to help others in need. Naperville is a place where passionate individuals step up and raise their voices for struggling families. These are the champions who keep us moving forward and continue to give us hope. And for them, I am truly thankful.
