Journey with Autism – Build better days with gratitude

-

When the world slows down as it has in these times, we value what happens even more than before. Almost everyone on Earth has been affected by this pandemic. What we all have in common is our desire to beat a little bug called a virus. What we can focus on is our shared perspective on the most important things in life, our health and the health of those others we love and share our lives with.

Questions loom about how to navigate this crisis. Being someone with autism, I’m always surprised by listening to view how others see life. I am very much aware that I’m struggling with how COVID-19 has personally filled my head with negative thoughts.

The need to express anger and frustration has blanketed many worried people. Landing on a target, we seem to need a place to put our bad feelings. We must begin to do our best to let giving of help boldly take priority in our struggle to adapt to a very limited way of living. We build better days if we focus on what we have.

Work to remember no one is without similar issues and many greatly have it much worse. Masks and distance are not prison. We are holed up inside so much more, but we must be grateful for every blessing we have. Never in our lifetime has the world shared so much, or had such a common cause.

Better days are longer ahead than we wish, but until then, smile through your masks and lend a hand to those who’ve lost their smile.
