The Naperville Municipal Band performed a “Salute to Naperville and the Fight Against COVID-19,” a 45-minute concert that welcomed band fans to Central Park on Sunday, Sept. 6. The socially-distant concert was the first outdoor performance in 2020.
All-American favorites included “From Sea to Shining Sea” and the “Armed Forces Medley,” a compilation of the U.S. military service songs and marches. NMB Conductor Ron Keller asked all Veterans in attendance to raise their hands during the song that represented the service they had served.
And the band plays on… The Naperville Municipal Band is tentatively planning an outdoor performance for October, weather permitting, Keller said. When details are available, they’ll be posted here.
Next up, the Band will perform at the annual September 11 Remembrance beginning at 5:45PM on Friday, Sept. 11, along the Riverwalk adjacent to the Naperville Municipal Center. The Band will perform from the Riverwalk Amphitheater across the DuPage River from the Cmdr. Dan Shanower Sept. 11 Memorial where the observance will begin at 6PM, hosted by the Exchange Club of Naperville and the City of Naperville. The public is welcome.
