Sam & Joe by Jared Moser
“Sam & Joe” is a comic strip with a couple of colorful characters created by Jared Moser. Moser recently returned to school, so look for the cartoon, frame by frame, again to be featured monthly online at www.positivelynaperville.com.
Find the comic strip printed in the monthly issue, too.
Cartoonist Moser, hailing from Wheeling, Illinois, is now a sophomore at North Central College, studying journalism and media communications, with a minor in animation. He plays volleyball and golf for North Central, resulting in receiving ACVA national player of the week, and conference freshman of the year for volleyball.
After a chance meeting in February 2020 at the North Central College WONC Radio Station (89.1 FM Pure Rock), Moser submitted samples of his work. In March 2020, Positively Naperville’s publisher began running his comics featuring a couple of his buddies.
Moser says Sam & Joe started off “as a doodle in a middle school note book, and with the influences of Calvin & Hobbes, and Big Nate,” the teenage “best friends” grew into the bickering sidekicks they are today.
Originally created in black and white, Moser has depicted the dynamic duo in response to Daylight Saving Time, St. Patrick’s Day, April Fools and Mother’s Day. This summer, Moser turned to living color. Enjoy!
One more thing… In late August, when Jared emailed that his comic strip for the September issue of Positively Naperville was soon to arrive, he added, “I’m doing great… happy to be back in school.”
