For specifics, the 25th annual Rotary Ride, held in memory of Carmen DiGiovine, will begin and end at Commissioners Park, 3704 111th St. in south Naperville, on Sunday, August 14, 2019. Cyclists may start the leisurely bike ride any time between at 6:30AM and 10AM.

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Naperville/Downtown and presented by DiGiovine, Hnilo, Jordan and Johnson, Ltd., the bike ride offers a 1.4 mile family loop at Commissioners Park as well as 21, 41, and 62 (metric century) mile routes to as far as Silver Springs State Park in Kendall County.

Following the recommendations set forth by local and federal officials, the CDC and cycling groups, the Rotary Club of Naperville Downtown (RCND) made the difficult decision to cancel the Rotary Ride scheduled for 2020.

Gear up for the return of the 23rd Annual Naperville Rotary Ride on Sun., Aug. 11.

According to 2019 Rotary Ride Chairman Kevin McQuillan, all three routes will be marked and SAG (Support and Gear) supported with three rest stops strategically located. Every SAG rest stop will be staffed with hosts from nonprofit organizations and Rotary, featuring an assortment of healthful refreshments and beverages until 2PM. A nutritious lunch buffet will be available in the pavilion at Commissioners Park upon completion of the ride.

“A committee of volunteers from our Rotary/Downtown has hosted this popular event since 2015, said McQuillan, who is also president-elect of Rotary/Downtown. “Led by presenting sponsor DiGiovine, Hnilo, Jordan & Johnson, Ltd., we’re again on are our way to providing new financial support to three local charities as well as international support to Rotary’s Polio Plus.”

The initial “Early Bird” registration is over. A discounted registration of $40 is available until July 20 that guarantees cyclists a commemorative t-shirt.

After July 21, the price for Rotary Ride goes up to $50 and will remain $50 on the day of the ride. Register now at www.napervillerotaryride.com.

Naperville Rotary Ride begins and ends at the pavilion at Commissioners Park along 111th Street.

Note also that a commemorative Rotary Ride cyclist jersey ($55) has been introduced and is available for purchase online through June 20, 2019.

Proceeds from 2019 Rotary Ride will benefit Rotary International’s Campaign to End Polio, Loaves and Fishes Community Services, Naperville Responds For Veterans and 360 Youth Services.

Established by the Rotary Club of Naperville / Sunrise in 1997, Rotary Ride has been organized by the Rotary Ride Committee of the Rotary Club of Naperville/Downtown since 2015.

The ride continues to be held to celebrate the memory of Carmen DiGiovine, an avid cyclist, community leader and local business owner. DiGiovine, a founding member of Rotary / Sunrise, also served to initiate the first bike ride fundraiser when it originated.
