Naperville Art League’s Art Around Town program is making city businesses more artful

-

Art Around Town is a Naperville Art League program where work by local artists is on display and for sale throughout the City of Naperville. The Naperville Art League program supports the community’s commitment to the arts.

Décor can play a key role in attracting and retaining customers. Naperville Art League’s program matches artists with restaurants, retail shops, and other businesses, providing rotating art displays at no cost or administrative effort to the participating businesses.  Any guest interested in purchasing art is directed to Naperville Art League to arrange purchase. All the business provides is wall space.

Main Street Promenade, located at 55 S. Main Street, recently collaborated with Naperville Art League on a juried art display at their prestigious retail/office building in downtown Naperville.

More than a dozen artists, many whom are award-winners, are represented in the pieces hanging in the 2nd and 3rd floor hallways of the building, with more to be added. The art will be changed approximately every 6 months thus keeping visitors engaged. All the art is available for sale.

In addition to Main Street Promenade, other locations where art is displayed include Elate Salon, Lucky Penny Diner and Ellman’s Music Center.

Elate Salon is located at 1823 Wehrli Rd. Currently, Kim Sowa’s art is on exhibit, reflecting her interest in connecting nature and the human experience.

The Lucky Penny Diner, 1224 W, Ogden Ave., provides “a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach,” organizers said.

Ellman’s Music Center, located at 508 West 5th Ave., soon will showcase new art that will be hung at the beginning of August.

The program started more than 10 years ago when members of NAL expressed an interest in showing their art in additional public places beyond the League’s Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery at 508 N. Center St.  The Covid shutdown allowed time to work on rebranding the program, which resulted in the new name, Art Around Town.  The program is a way to serve artists as well as the Naperville community. NAL makes it easy for business owners by handling all the administrative work and processing any sales.

While the program is managed by NAL, artists do not have to be members of the League. NAL members get in the program for free, but any Naperville area artist can participate for a nominal fee. Interested artists should contact Naperville Art League. Also, any business interested in learning more about the Art Around Town program should contact Naperville Art League.

Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery

Naperville Art League owns the Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery at 508 N. Center St. in Naperville which is open to the public. New art shows with original art by local artists are on display in the Gallery each month. The art is for sale. Many people are spending more time redecorating so this is one resource to consider.  Art is also on display on the League’s website.

Gift shop items are also available for sale and include greeting cards, jewelry, ceramics, specialty soaps, and more. Naperville Art League also offers a variety of art classes and workshops for people of all ages and skill levels. Hours are 10AM to 5PM Tuesday -Friday and 10AM to 4PM Saturday.
