The Y – Welcome Back to the Y

We are thrilled to have welcomed back campers and members. Our staff teams have missed everyone and are so glad that we’re again providing programs and services.

On June 15, the Fry YMCA and the YMCA Safe ‘n Sound welcomed back children with the kick off of Summer Camp. It has been great to see all the children and their parents as we started summer. We have implemented many more safety protocols this summer to keep campers safe, and our staff teams have organized a variety of activities and lessons to engage and help support a fun and safe summer for all campers.

On July 1, we were wet to welcome back members to the Fry YMCA. It’s been wonderful to see everyone return to the YMCA. Members are able to use indoor exercise equipment, but are required to reserve time in advance to avoid overcrowding in the gym. We are following the capacity limits set by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). Reservations also will be required for both indoor and outdoor group fitness and personal training sessions.

The YMCA has created a comprehensive reopening process with critical in-center procedures to ensure the safest experience for all. Additionally, YMCA staff have been trained on the new measures, which include how to conduct health screenings at check-in, enforcing social distancing requirements, and understanding the new cleaning protocols that align with the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) standards.

Members will notice a few changes at the centers, although many of the precautions are temporary. For example, changing rooms and towel service will not be available, and water fountains will be available for bottle fill only.

To help members and the community keep track of all the adjustments, the Y has developed a Reopening Resource webpage at ymcachicago.org/reopening. The resource page contains useful information on the Y’s reopening plan, including the new in-center protocol, details on how the Y will keep its facilities sanitized, and a helpful “Know Before You Go” section. Reservations for gym time, group fitness classes, and personal training also will be accepted on the resource page.

Welcome back! Your Naperville YMCA is looking forward to seeing you!
