Original Post, July 2, 2020 / The Naperville Salute will host a fireworks display at Frontier Park adjacent to Neuqua Valley High School at 9:30PM on the Fourth of July.

The fireworks will feature a high altitude display which increases the viewing radius up to three miles. Residents are encouraged to watch from their homes or neighborhood parks if possible.

Suggested parking and viewing locations

Individuals, families and friends interested in attending in person can watch from a field within the park grounds or from their vehicles in one of the 906 parking spaces at the Frontier Park Sports Complex. An additional 1,000 parking spaces will also be available at Neuqua Valley High School, 3220 Cedar Glade Drive.

Spectators are encouraged to practice social distancing at all times, wear face masks, and refrain from gathering in large groups. In-person attendees may not start gathering until after 5PM on July 4. Tailgating will not be permitted.

No food trucks or food and beverage services will be offered on park grounds. Any individual, business, or organization soliciting or selling goods and services will be asked to leave park grounds. Launch site move

Originally planned to be launched at Knoch Park near downtown Naperville, the launch site was changed to Frontier Park in south Naperville which offers a larger footprint – to accommodate for spectators to be socially distant and a larger “fallout zone” required for a high altitude fireworks display.

The Naperville Salute, City of Naperville and Naperville Park District issued a joint statement about the move last month.

“We know many were hoping for a fireworks display at Knoch Park. Despite the disappointment this decision may bring to some, we are grateful to have found a location that allows us to continue this tradition while ensuring the safety of all participants. We look forward to The Salute’s return to Rotary Hill in 2021 and along with it, the fireworks display.”

The inaugural Naperville Salute, a hometown-focused Fourth of July celebration, was canceled in May due COVID-19. The Salute, benefiting Naperville Responds For Veterans, will return in 2021 to honor Naperville’s hometown heroes, veterans, active military and first responders.

The fireworks display is hosted by The Naperville Salute in partnership with the City of Naperville and Naperville Park District. There is no rain date.
