During uncertain times, I like to remind myself of that which I am certain.
I am certain that there is no devotion like our families. I know this because I am blessed to witness the loving commitment of Turning Pointe students’ moms and dads. They sacrifice comfort, career or convenience to do what is in the best interest of their child. Day in, day out. During pandemic times and all the time. Our students are blessed to have these champion advocates with unyielding faith in their abilities.
I am certain the Turning Pointe team remains devoted professionals. I know this because our adult team used this remote work time to receive an endorsement as a Certified Autism Center by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards. I also know this because I witnessed teachers become Zoom experts overnight and watched teammates find the most creative ways to support families during remote learning time.
I am certain our community will continue to support our work. I know this because the shelter in place protocols were to flatten the curve and to protect our most vulnerable populations. Our students remain vulnerable. And your outpouring of support confirms that our students’ needs will remain dear to our neighbors. Thank you in advance for the ways you will continue to support our friends with autism. Like many of us, they will need our compassion and care more than ever when we can all be together again.
I am certain we will welcome students back with much joy! I am also certain they will surprise us by adapting to their school routine again. I know this because I have witnessed their resiliency and grit. They overcome more each day to meet our demands than we overcome to meet theirs. Thus, they remain the most inspiring neighbors and friends.
Above all, I am certain that our students remain our why. Why we serve this mission, why we continue to train and learn how to better serve and – quite simply and honestly – why we smile so much here at Turning Pointe!
