“The death of George Floyd has rightfully shocked the conscience of myself and people across the nation,” said Bishop Richard Pates, Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet.

“Racial justice is a matter of human dignity,” continued Bishop Pates. “And I hope on Saturday that people of all faiths will join me and other leaders in expressing our solidarity with the African American community and praying for an end to discrimination and violence, as well as the transformation of public institutions.”

A panel of speakers will call for repentance, a commitment to racial justice and a new way forward, organizers said.

Presenters include…

  • Bishop Richard Pates, Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet;
  • Bishop Jeffrey Clements, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America;
