Naperville Mayor issues State of Emergency, 9PM curfew for Naperville

Above / The Naperville Municipal Center was closed for today at noon with suggestions that all downtown businesses close as well. This evening, Mayor Chirico has issued a 9PM curfew until 6AM Tuesday via Naper Notify and a press release.

Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico has issued a state of emergency and mandatory curfew for the City of Naperville from 9PM on Mon., June 1 until 6AM on Tues., June 2, due to the widespread incidents of violence, vandalism, and stealing occurring throughout the greater Chicagoland area.

The order was issued out of an abundance of caution and out of necessity to protect and preserve the public peace, safety and welfare. The Naperville Police Department is prepared to respond to incidents as they arise with the aid of other law enforcement agencies. All residents are asked to stay home for their safety or only travel for essential work during this time.

Residents are urged to call 9-1-1 if they witness any criminal or suspicious activity. Please continue to check the City of Naperville’s website and official social media channels for information on this emerging situation.
