Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico has issued a state of emergency and mandatory curfew for the City of Naperville from 9PM on Mon., June 1 until 6AM on Tues., June 2, due to the widespread incidents of violence, vandalism, and stealing occurring throughout the greater Chicagoland area.
The order was issued out of an abundance of caution and out of necessity to protect and preserve the public peace, safety and welfare. The Naperville Police Department is prepared to respond to incidents as they arise with the aid of other law enforcement agencies. All residents are asked to stay home for their safety or only travel for essential work during this time.
Residents are urged to call 9-1-1 if they witness any criminal or suspicious activity. Please continue to check the City of Naperville’s website and official social media channels for information on this emerging situation.

Out of an abundance of caution, the City of Naperville is closing City Hall to employees and the public at noon and suggesting that downtown Naperville businesses close, as well, due to multiple, unconfirmed reports of protests planned throughout the western suburbs.
Residents are advised to avoid the downtown area and to call 9-1-1 immediately if they witness any criminal or unusual activity throughout town.
Residents are asked to look to the City of Naperville and the Naperville Police Department for credible information about this evolving situation.

Update / 3:59PM June 1, 2020: Naper Notify reported a large crowd of peaceful protesters walking westbound on Aurora Avenue toward an unknown destination.
