With many fond memories of Naperville Jaycees’ special events, their food drive continues Sat., April 11

-

Above / Instead of collecting 14,000 empty plastic egg shells that held special treats for youngsters who scrambled in the Annual Jaycees Easter Egg Hunt, usually held on the Saturday before Easter, today the Naperville Jaycees are continuing to host a Community Food and Clothing Drive. Day #2 of their collection efforts run from 9AM to 3PM, today, Sat., April 11. Find volunteers curbside in front of Oswald’s Pharmacy in Naperville Plaza, Gartner at Washington streets, accepting donations, no hands touched.

Considering many years of fond memories of the Jaycees Easter Egg Hunt, held most recently at Frontier Park, residents are welcome to commemorate the kid-focused event with donations to a Community Food and Clothing Drive beginning at 9AM, Sat., April 11. New nonperishable items can be dropped off curbside in front of Oswald’s Pharmacy in Naperville Plaza. Hours are from 9AM to 3PM.

Planned in response to the current social and economic crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, The Naperville Jaycees and Oswald’s Pharmacy, in cooperation with Men In Black Pest Control Services, aims to help local emergency relief organizations meet the growing demand for assistance in our community.

Food, supplies, and clothing donations can be dropped off during these times at the collection station on the sidewalk in front of Oswald’s Pharmacy. Volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves and will remove items from vehicles upon request.

Organizations that will benefit from the Jaycees efforts include Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, Bridge Communities, DuPage Pads, Hesed House, IPSD 204 Gift Mart, Little Friends, Loaves and Fishes Community Services,, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Peoples’ Resource Center, Sharing Connections, Teen Parent Connection and West Suburban Community Pantry.

When asked the needs of Loaves & Fishes Community Services, President and CEO Mike Havala replied, “One of the messages that I am trying to get out to people is that, if they want to help provide people with food now, getting either funds or food directly to the various food pantries is the best way to provide help since it can get to the clients right here, right now.”
