DuPage Children’s Museum is hosting Happier Hour: Friendsgiving, an after hours event just for grown-ups, on from 7-10PM on Sat., Nov. 23. Leave “adulting” at the door to sip, savor, shop and play at the Museum. Let your inner child loose and enjoy time with your friends being a kid again (without all the kids). Everything is planned – all you need to do is gather your friends for a night of play.

Are you as smart as a 5-year-old?

Happier Hour is your chance to experience Exhibit Challenges – Are you as smart as a five-year-old? Tap your creative and competitive side in the Crushed It Competition, loosely based on the hit series Nailed It; discover Seriously Silly (and instagrammable) Photo Ops; get a jump on holiday shopping and wrapping and Get Your Craft On – in The Studio Gifting Makerspace; or shop the Artisan Market featuring unique and local vendors.

“Play is not just for kids! It is, in fact, vitally important for adults to play,” said Thomas Sullivan, Director of Education and Programs, DuPage Children’s Museum.

Everything is planned – all you need to do is gather your friends for a night of play.

According to Michael Yogman, MD, FAAP, lead author of The Power of Play, “The benefits of play really cannot be overstated in terms of mitigating stress…buffering against toxic stress; and building social-emotional resilience.”

Sullivan also asserts, “Going into the hectic holiday season, we all need a break to unwind and have fun. Happier Hour at DuPage Children’s Museum provides that intentional place to Pause for Play.”

The Museum anticipates a diverse audience ranging from twenty-somethings who remember visiting as children to parents who want a chance to play without the kids, and anyone just looking for a night to escape the realities of adulthood, if only for an evening.
