Naperville Senior Center Adult Day Service Mini-Relay For Life team presented a check totaling $5,395.00 to Kiyoko Czech, Community Development Manager of American Cancer Society on October 22.
More than 50 Members participated during NSC’s fifth American Cancer Society Mini-Relay For Life event in August at their location, 1504 N Naper Blvd. Members walked, walkered and wheeled over 2,100 laps around Naperville Senior Center’s indoor track; equivalent to walking round-trip to Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg.
“It was inspirational to see our families, volunteers and staff support our Members and help save lives from cancer,” said Mike Cooper, Mini-Relay Team Co-captain. “Together, we celebrated those surviving cancer, remembered loved ones lost, and took tangible action to make a difference.”
Since 2015, Naperville Senior Center Adult Day Services Members have raised $23,441.75 to support the American Cancer Society’s mission of saving lives from cancer.
“It’s a feeling of community and purposefulness for Members of NSC. One Member, who raised $170 during the event, mentioned she couldn’t remember the last time she was able to do something for someone else,” Cooper said.

FYI: Naperville Senior Center, a family-owned business opened in 2015, provides dozens of activities and exercises for our Members as well as peace of mind and coaching for caregivers.
Owners Pam Cooper, Physical Therapist, and Mike Cooper, Certified Caregiver Consultant, along with their specialized staff of Activity Coordinator, Registered Nurses and Certified Nurse Assistants, plan and lead enjoyable activities for seniors throughout the day designed around their Members’ interests, abilities and needs.
Naperville Senior Center Members vocalize, theorize, harmonize, evangelize and sometimes even close their eyes, but most importantly socialize and exercise, Cooper says.
