Pet Words of Wisdom – It’s a treat to say thanks

-

Going through some stuff that makes me realize how seldom we share a compliment, kind word or a thank you; I’d like to use this opportunity to say some things about our Dog Patch team.

I’m nearing 25 years of involvement with Dog Patch—from hanging with my friend, Craig, to eventually owning the store. We’ve experienced an abundance of changes. And I’m grateful.

My current staff is young and smart, dedicated and seemingly tireless. I’m seeing generational changes. Sean (former manager Molly’s son) has been handed a huge set of responsibilities to keep us improving. From staff to inventory and even the dreaded schedule making, Sean’s much more together at his age than I was. I think he might have been born to run things. He deserves a medal and my thanks.

Then there’s Hope, the perfect name for this smart person who see things others miss. Thanks for trusting yourself.

Thank you, Brynn. I had no idea what I was getting when you were hired. You are a human dynamo. Every single Dog Patch event, kids club, puppy play time is Brynn’s doing. She also happens to be a great mom with a great kid.

Thank you to Laura. A longtime friend, your ability to take on a vast array of tasks is remarkable. Besides, you keep me sane.

Angel, Jessie, Shalom, and Tim, you have stepped up. Thank you. You are the heart of Dog Patch. You started great and get better every day.

Savannah and Cora, you guys are coming on strong. Don’t be bashful at work. You’re both awesome. Joey, it wouldn’t be the same without you.

Can’t forget Tortilinni (tortoise) and our little black and white pup, Sissy. Sissy has become part of my animal family. She’s trying hard to fit in. Be patient with her!

I’m pretty lucky. I’m privileged to get to own Dog Patch and so glad I get to be with such a great team, all with huge hearts. It means the world to me that Dog Patch is in such good hands as we work together to find forever homes for all our rescues.
