Naperville Woman’s Club aims to cast witch’s spell to end domestic violence

-

Above / Volunteers for the Naperville Woman’s Club are ready to transform the 13-acre outdoor history village with creepy crawlers to welcome guests under the big tent and along the winding paths during the 3rd Annual Witches Night Out. Last call for reservations was Tuesday. The magic and wonder begin this evening when good spells are cast to benefit charities for women and children in need.

UPDATE, Oct. 11, 2019 / From the Naperville Woman’s Club: Thank you goes to all of our member volunteers, their friends and some of our philanthropy recipients for their work on Witches Night Out…  Feedback from the crowd was very positive! Again, thanks to all.

For more, plan to attend the NWC monthly meeting at 11:30AM Wed., 16, at the NWC Clubhouse to help celebrate two more important events. The General Federation of Woman’s Clubs is turning 125 and Naperville Garden Club is celebrating its 90th anniversary. NWC member Bonnie Bula will present more about  Naperville Garden Club at the meeting. Guests are always welcome.

Witch wannabees will be wigging it, topped with fashionable fedoras, when they join members of the Naperville Woman’s Club to raise funds for Mutual Ground and other charities.

Original Post / Sept. 4, 2019 / Gather your friends and dress up as witches to help other women and those in need when the Naperville Woman’s Club hosts Witches Night Out Naperville from 4:30 to 9:30PM Thurs., Oct. 10, 2019.

Last year 1,000 women attended this fun and festive event. This year’s Witches Night Out Naperville returns to Naper Settlement with numerous activities planned for the bewitching evening. There will be ghost stories, music and dancing, mansion tours, psychic readings, bewitching raffle baskets, a witch’s bazaar, a photo booth, food (lots of food!), drinks, a witch’s line dance, henna painting, and a costume contest (yes, exhibit your inner “Witch” by dressing the part for the evening).

“Witches Night Out Naperville is the philanthropic event of the season,” said Donna Shaw, President of the Naperville Woman’s Club. “Proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to Mutual Ground and other NWC philanthropic endeavors.”

Mutual Ground provides services for domestic abuse victims. Their clients are offered emergency shelter services, medical and legal advocacy and counseling. By attending Witches Night Out Naperville, supporters will help Mutual Ground clients overcome obstacles they face daily.

Naperville Woman’s Club is a nonprofit organization organized in 1897. Their mission is to support arts, education, and community service. NWC hosts an annual fine art fair in June. Local high school students showcase their talents to win prizes, including a scholarship to an art camp at the Young Adult Art Contest each spring. Last year NWC awarded over $50,000 to various community charities and awarded three scholarships. Membership to this organization is open all.
