What a difference a year makes!

Update, Aug. 16, 2020 / This 2019 post of “Things to Do” has been receiving lots of looks this weekend. One thing has remained the same, even during the uncertainties of the pandemic: Rainbows still appear in Riverwalk fountains and sprinklers on Rotary Hill!

Friday

Transfer Info Session at North Central College – 9:30AM | $0-$15
Smith Hall in Old Main –  30 N. Brainard St. Naperville, IL 60540
North Central College will host an information session Friday, August 16, for transfer students. Visitors can learn about academic choices, transfer admission process, scholarships and financial aid. Registration begins at 9:30AM at Smith Hall in Old Main, 30 N. Brainard St., and concludes with a walking tour of campus at 10:45AM. August’s entire line-up honors the greatest rock concert of all time, Woodstock. To round off the final set in the summer concert series, Naper Settlement honors Woodstock’s 50th anniversary with Soundtracks of a Generation on August 16, featuring the songs of Jefferson Airplane, Sly & the Family Stone, Joe Cocker, Jimi Hendrix, and more. The final concert on August 17 sends summer off right with Rico, a Santana tribute, opening for The THE BAND Band, a The Band tribute. No outside food or beverages are allowed. Gates are open 5-10PM. Casey’s Foods fires up the grill on Saturdays and Sundays – 11AM–2PM | Cost varies with purchase
Casey’s Foods – 124 W Gartner Rd, Naperville, IL 60540
Casey’s Foods located at Naperville Plaza will be firing up its grill every Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 2PM through October, weather permitting. Choose from a variety of options, including burgers, brats, tacos or the weekly special. Add a dollar and get chips and a drink. It’s great food, at a good price, in a fun atmosphere.

Jaycees Trivia Night – 6-7PM Social Hour / 7PM Trivia begins | $20

Join the Jaycees and Ian Holzhauer (Brother of Jeopardy! marvel) for an informal, fun competition where your team of 6-10 people (10 people max!) will battle other teams to see who has the greatest knowledge of all things trivial. Get a table of friends together and come join the fun. Your team will have its own table and answer the trivia questions together, so don’t be shy. The event is BYOF (Bring Your Own Food)! Bring a fun team name and theme, as well as munchies or a full meal for your team to enjoy. The VFW will provide a cash bar. No outside alcohol is permitted. All proceeds benefit Naperville Jaycees and are donated back to the community.

Come on downtown for shopping, dining or a haircut! Check out what’s new. Tour the Century Walk of artistic sculptures and murals that showcase history and community among the Dog Days display.

Naperville Municipal Band Concerts & Y Family Movies Nights in Central Park 


Naperville Municipal plays its annual summer concert series at 7:30PM Thursdays through Aug. 15, 2019. 

Naperville Municipal Band has been celebrating its 160th year during its annual summer concert series at 7:30PM Thursday evenings through Aug. 15, 2019, in Central Park.

Kick off the weekend tonight during the final concert featuring the NMB Big Band and more. Admission always is free of charge. Fill the park benches or BYO lawn chairs or blankets. Strike up the band that’s been here quite some time! Click here for a look at the NMB performing some all-American sounds from out West on Aug. 1.

YMCA also presents its outdoor family summer movie series in Central Park. Admission is free of charge. Enjoy  “Aquaman” on Fri., Aug. 23.
