Kreger’s Brat and Sausage Haus is one of Naperville’s oldest homegrown businesses, dating back to 1893.
For the third summer, independent business owner Bill Kreger has teamed up with us at Dog Patch to help meet the needs of rescue dogs that find their way to our store. He gives a portion of his sales all summer to our special rescue fund.
Last summer Kreger’s efforts provided assistance for 25 dogs. I know many of you have heard me say that all dogs and cats up for adoption leave Dog Patch only after a visit to a veterinarian.
In fact, before leaving Dog Patch, every available dog has been spayed or neutered, has had age-appropriate vaccinations, is microchipped and dewormed, and has been tested for parvo if under 5 months old and tested for heartworm if over 6 months old.
Bill’s efforts help us tell our story and support how much we care for our dogs and cats. And we are so grateful!
As Naperville’s original pet store established in 1972, Dog Patch is an old-fashioned full-service pet store with an array of quality pet products and an experienced staff, aiming to find “forever homes” for the adoptable animals available in its kennel. Our motto is “Find Your Rescue at Dog Patch.”
The other day Bill mentioned he’s going fishing for a few days this month. Kreger’s will be closed July 4-17.
And that reminded me to tell PN readers that our fish ponds are swimming with koi, all sizes.
We also have live bait for local anglers! This summer we’ve seen an increase of local youngsters interested in earthworms, wax worms and meal worms so they can catch and release in our local ponds. And we think fishing is a good thing!
