Fire Prevention 24-7 – Save the date! Then come for the run and stay for the fun!

-

At 8AM Sat., Sept. 21, the Naperville Professional Firefighters for a Cause and the Naperville Fire Department will be hosting the annual Stop, Drop and Run 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s Camp ‘I am Me,’ a burn camp for child burn survivors. Don’t run? Come out and walk. Everyone is welcome! Visit www.naperville.il.us/stopdroprun5K to register.

Immediately following you can attend the Public Safety Open House from 10AM– 2PM at the Public Safety Campus on Aurora Avenue (next to Safety Town). The Naperville Fire and Police Departments will again be “Partnering for Prevention” to kick off Public Safety Month, that takes place in October.

The purpose of this event, is to disseminate important crime and fire prevention information to the residents of Naperville, and to encourage citizen action regarding crime and fire prevention strategies. Both departments firmly believe that citizens are the number one defense against fire and crime, and want to spread the word that residents need to “Prepare, Practice and Prevent” to keep their families safe.

This must-see event will include a variety of activities including an auto extrication and simulated DUI arrest, along with a helicopter exercise (weather permitting), a K-9 demonstration, taser demonstration and a flashover fire demonstration. A large display of Fire and Police vehicles and equipment also will be on-site.

The 1924 Ahrens-Fox, Naperville’s second piece of motorized fire apparatus, has been fully restored and will also be proudly displayed. Sparky and McGruff will be back again this year, as well. Come mingle with Naperville firefighters and police officers! Grab a snack at one of the food trucks!

The Public Safety Open House is an event the entire community will enjoy, while gaining valuable safety information for their families, neighborhoods and workplaces. This event is perfect for scouts, families and children of all ages! Visit www.naperville.il.us/psoh.
