ICO recognizes 13 students with scholarship awards

Indian Community Outreach (ICO) recently hosted a special event in the Myron Wentz Science Center at North Central College to recognize student scholarship and preview 2019 India Day slated for Aug. 11. ICO Chairman Krishna Bansal introduced President of North Central Dr. Troy Hammond and Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico, both of whom addressed the audience. Bansal also welcomed the new Consul General of India in Chicago, Sudhakar Dalela, as well as Schaumberg Mayor Tom Dailly.

ICO presented $1,000 Lotus Scholarship Excellence Awards to 13 “deserving Indian American High School Senior applicants in the Chicago Area.” These awards honored outstanding student achievement in the fields of Arts, Academics, Sports, Community Service and Leadership.

Lotus Scholarship Excellence Awards were presented to Aarthi Kottapalli for Academics; Amit Somalwar for Academics; Ashwin Saxena for Academics; Suman Manek for Academics; Adam Patni for Leadership; Sumukh Kak for Academics; Jai Gandhi for Academics; Adithi Arunkumar for Arts; Arjun Kumar for Arts, presented by Smart Caliber; Mira Malavia for Community Service and Academics, presented by Patel Brothers; Alya Gupta for Community Service, presented by Krishna & Meghna Bansal in Memory of Late Mr. Rama Kant Bansal; Sathya Subramaniam for Sports, presented by V.C. Vasisth in the Memory of Late Mr. C. D. Sharma and Mrs. Sushila Sharma; and Shruti Kolli, Mayor Pradel Award for Leadership, Community Service and Academics.

India Day Parade and Celebration returns Sun., Aug 11, to Knoch Park. The India Day evening concert will welcome back Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan.
