Above / The Naperville Riverwalk and Knoch Knolls Park are alive with colorful spring flowers as well as blossoming bushes and trees, and the wooded areas are blooming with beautiful bluebells and wildflowers.

Venture south to the trails in Knoch Knolls Park to view bluebells as far as you can see in the woods. On sunny days until the trees are full of foliage, the woodlands glisten among good nature.

North Central College presents “An Evening with Jazz Trombonist Tim Coffman” at 8PM Friday, April 26, at the College’s Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tim Coffman is one of the most active trombonists and instructors in the Chicago area, and has performed with famous acts such as Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Natalie Cole and was lead trombone for the Chicago Symphony’s production of “Nutcracker.” Tickets are $22/adults and $17/students. On Sat., April 27, the Naperville YMCAs are holding a free community event to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active at the annual YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day. The Y’s national initiative to improve health and well-being for kids and families Healthy Kids Day is an opportunity to ignite children’s imaginations so that they can imagine what they’ll accomplish this summer. The event features activities such as crafts, bounce house, fitness demonstrations, games, and a variety of community information to motivate and teach families how to develop and maintain healthy routines at home throughout the summer months. A cast of over 70 students will present this year’s Spring Musical, Les Miserables! Accompanied by over 20 instrumentalists and almost 30 students working on tech and costumes, NNHS is excited to bring this show to the NPAC stage. Les Miserables is the epic, sung-through 1987 Tony Award-winner for Best Musical based on the novel by French poet and writer Victor Hugo. Naperville Women’s Half Marathon and 5K – 7AM | $35-100

The 4th annual Naperville Women’s Half Marathon & 5K from North Central College is open to all runners and walkers! The event course will take athletes through downtown and some of the finest neighborhoods of Naperville. The race will start and finish on the track inside the beautiful Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. The Turkish American Cultural Alliance (TACA) and Turkish Friends of Naperville present International Children’s Day on Sunday, April 28 from 1 to 5PM. The event will be held at Ranch View Elementary School, 1651 Ranchview Dr. Naperville, IL 60565. This event promotes friendship and understanding among different cultures and features a parade of nations, performances in traditional costumes, exhibits, face painting, a magician show, ethnic food and many more. Voices of Hope concert will take place at Wentz Concert Hall at 3PM on Sun., April 28. The music is as uplifting and inspiring. Organizers say each previous concert has been highly successful in enabling a broad spectrum of survivors, patients, caregivers, and family members of individuals touched by cancer to join in song.
