The Naperville Education Foundation (NEF) has opened registration for TEAM NEF, a group of parents, teachers, staff, community members and students who will participate on behalf of NEF as Charity Heroes in the Healthy Driven Naperville Half Marathon & 5K. The run is set for Sun., Oct. 20, 2019. Both races begin and end on Eagle St., just north of Aurora Ave. near the Naperville Municipal Center. The half marathon begins at 7AM, followed by the start of the 5K at 7:15AM.

Be the school with percentage of most participants, win $1000 bonus

This year, the Naperville 203 school with the highest percentage of TEAM NEF participants by the close of registration at midnight, May 31, 2019, will win a $1,000 bonus thanks to the generous support of Gail Niermeyer, Realtor, Coldwell Banker.

The percentage will be based on the number of TEAM NEF participants supporting a school, divided by the number of students enrolled at that school. To qualify, each participant must meet their $203 minimum fundraising commitment by October 20, 2019.

Already 126 walkers and runners have joined, with the number of participants growing daily. Half of each member’s $203 fundraising commitment goes to support the Naperville 203 school of their choice and half to support the district-wide programs funded by NEF.

2018 TEAM NEF included 212 participants

In 2018, a record-breaking 212 walkers and runners, including 98 teachers and staff members, raised more than $80,000. This year’s TEAM is on track to surpass that record.

“People are really connected to their schools. Everybody has a favorite school and this is allowing them to give back to NEF and the school of their choice,” Wendy Goettsch, Executive Director of NEF, said. “This is such a great way to celebrate the love for Naperville 203.”

TEAM NEF member perks include free training, free gear check and parking at TEAM NEF headquarters at Naperville Central High School, a race day shirt and more. Join the TEAM and learn more at nef203.org/how-you-can-help/join-team-nef/. Sponsorships are also available.
