The Naperville Municipal Band hosted its Annual Spring Concert with special guest performers on Sun., April 14, on stage at Wentz Concert Hall.
The 90-minute concert opened with the Fox Valley Brass Band, under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Bough. The 33-member brass band consists of professional-level volunteer musicians from throughout the Fox Valley community that perform compositions of the traditional British Brass Band genre as well as new works of contemporary composers.
Several brass solos highlighted the performance, including 12 tubas that NMB Director Ron Keller called “Heavy Metal.”
Next up, the Naperville Municipal Band will march in the Memorial Day Parade at 10:30AM on Monday, May 27, followed at 12:15PM with musical tributes on stage at the Community Concert Center in Central Park when members of the American Legion and VFW will recognize Veterans and their families that have given the ultimate sacrifice.
Then at 7:30PM Thurs., June 6, the 90-member NMB returns to the Community Concert Center to begin its 11-week Thursday evening summer concert series in Central Park. And this year, the band will celebrate its first 160 years with plenty of memorable tunes from several lifetimes of music.
