Naperville Fire Department responds to garage fire, deems residence uninhabitable, reports no injuries

At 10:30PM on Sun. Feb. 3, 2019, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from the resident reporting a fire in the attached garage of a single-family residence located in the 800 block of Rockbridge Dr.

Naperville 911 (PSAP) dispatched a General Alarm assignment to the reported address which brought 11 pieces of fire apparatus and 25 fire personnel to the scene.

The first unit arrived on scene at 10:35PM and reported a fire in the attached garage of the structure that
extended into the second floor of the residence.

A hose line was deployed from the exterior of the structure to begin fire extinguishment. As additional fire companies arrived on the scene a second line was deployed to the interior of the structure to extinguish the fire that had extended to the second floor. A primary and secondary search of the residence was completed, salvage and overhaul operations were performed, the interior of the structure was ventilated and a water supply was secured. No civilian injuries were reported.

An inspector from Naperville’s Transportation Engineering and Development (TED) was also notified. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and the residence was deemed uninhabitable.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Emergency Management Agency. The Wheaton Fire Department, Oswego Fire Department, Bolingbrook Fire Department, Plainfield Fire Protection District, Warrenville Fire Protection District, and Darien Woodridge Fire Protection District provided coverage to the Naperville fire stations during this incident.

There were no injuries to firefighters working on the scene.
