DUPAGE COUNTY— The time of year for individuals purchasing healthcare coverage through the HealthCare.gov website, also known as the Health Insurance Marketplace, ends December 15.

With only one week until the deadline, the DuPage County Health Department is encouraging residents who need help to “Follow Your Dreams, Choose Your Health Plan,” and sign up for a Get DuPage Covered open enrollment workshop. Specially-trained and certified assisters are available to help with information and enrollment.

Individuals without insurance through an employer, Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or a source providing qualifying health insurance have until December 15, 2018, to enroll in a health insurance plan.

Anyone who registered for insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace in the past must review and renew your current health insurance plan during Open Enrollment.

Insurance plans must cover, at minimum, essential health benefits

By law, each health insurance plan must cover, at a minimum, essential health benefits, including hospitalizations, doctor visits, and prescription medicine. Financial assistance is still available to help lower costs of insurance for individuals meeting the income eligibility criteria.

DuPage County residents are asked to call (630) 221-7606 to sign up for a workshop. For the list of  workshops and more information, visit dupagehealth.org/get_dupage_covered.
