What was your favorite TV game show growing up? Mine was “Family Feud.” The show debuted on ABC in 1976. I loved watching two families compete against each other; trying to guess what, “The survey says…” Host Richard Dawson was always entertaining as he interviewed the contestants – finding out fun facts about them – while keeping everyone’s spirits high with continuous encouragement.
Fast forward to today and my new favorite TV game show is “Game On!” Hosted by Danielle Tufano of 95.9 The River, NCTV17’s game show features two teams of Naperville Notables competing in six rounds of fun parlor games. Much like the hosts on national television, Danielle is witty, quick to improvise and always upbeat and encouraging to both teams. She’s also a good sport as our crew loves to dress her up with various accessories tied to the theme of each game.
Since its inception, Game On! has featured the likes of Nicki Anderson, Ray Kinney, Shannon Greene-Robb, Fire Chief Mark Puknaitis, Katie Wood, Ray McGury, Kimberley White, Joe Chura and other familiar Naperville personalities.
The most recent episode, “The Halloween One,” has eight more local notables playing Halloween-themed games such as Vincent Price Is Right, 9 Lives and Mummy Wrap.
While I won’t spoil the surprise and tell you whether Team Chills or Team Thrills went home with the Game On! trophy, you can watch this episode online at www.nctv17.com/c/game-on/ In fact, you can watch all of the previous six episodes at this link.
As the NCTV17 team works to constantly bring new programming to the channel, we’re taking our game show on the road in December to Neuqua Valley High School where we’ll produce, “Clash of the Classes.” This student edition will feature two teams: Team 2019 (eight Wildcat seniors) and Team 2020 (eight Wildcat juniors).
Mark your calendar and join us on Wednesday, December 5 in the NVHS Auditorium for a FUNdraiser benefiting both your nonprofit television station and the NVHS Class Gift program. Tickets available at NCTV17.com.
