May Watts Park, pictured above, located off Whispering Hills offers playgrounds, fishing, a .89-mile trail and plenty of reasons to pause and reflect about the changing season before all the leaves turn and fall. This autumn has presented particularly splendorous scenes from north, east, west and south Naperville. The Farmers Plaza, pictured below, along the Riverwalk at Eagle Street always presents a place to sit and appreciate the seasonal view of the Jaycees Marina, Gregory Gazebo and Moser Tower at the base of Rotary Hill.

12th Annual “Pennies for Pies” Drive to Benefit Loaves & Fishes – Regular Business Hours thru Nov. 16 – Small Change to Large Donations

The Naperville Park District will hold its 12th annual “Pennies for Pies” drive from November 1-16 to help provide pumpkin pies for holiday meals through Naperville’s Loaves & Fishes Community Services . Residents and visitors to Park District facilities are encouraged to donate small change (or make larger donations) that will be used to purchase pumpkin pies to benefit Loaves & Fishes’ Thanksgiving dinner initiative for residents in need.

The community is welcome to the annual service to recognize and honor military veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces. No matter where you might be at 11AM on Nov. 11, pause to reflect for a moment at “11-11-11.” In addition to Veterans Park, Naperville offers many places along the Riverwalk and throughout the community to observe patriotism and this city’s rich history of respect for dedicated Veterans every day of the year.

Naperville Municipal Band Veterans Day Concert / 3PM | Community Welcome! Free Admission

The community is welcome to the annual Veterans Day Concert performed in the Wentz Concert Hall.  Naperville Municipal Band Conductor and Music Director Ron Keller will welcome guest conductor Col. Lowell E. Graham and NMB Assistant Conductors Rene R. Rosas and Emily Binder to the stage to lead the band as Ann Lord serves as emcee to provide enlightening commentary. The Veterans Day Concert also will recognize the mission of Operation Support Our Troops America. Attendees are welcome to bring most-needed items for Comfort and Care Packages sent to troops serving overseas.

Veterans Day Dinner at VFW / 5PM | $14 per person

The community is welcome to the Combined Posts” Veterans Day Social and Dinner Sun., Nov. 11, Veterans Day, at the VFW.  The social hour begins at 5PM, followed by a turkey dinner prepared by the Kendall Cooks at 6PM.  Please note the time change.  Reserve early as the maximum reservations is 200.  RSVP by Wed., Nov. 7, at (630) 803-2251 or email jenniferbslown@gmail.com.
