Loaves & Fishes is fortunate to welcome many exceptional students as interns. The following is a reflection from Arvind Mohan, a senior at Naperville Central High School who completed an internship this summer.

“My aspirations align well with Loaves & Fishes. Since I was seven, I have been volunteering serving food at my religious center, The Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago. Motivated by my parents, I see myself advocating for the end of world hunger and famine, hence Loaves & Fishes. I find it easy to collaborate with other students and staff in completing complex tasks, which is a quality found at Loaves & Fishes.”

“Each day at Loaves & Fishes was filled with surprises and doors that opened new opportunities. Words cannot describe the amount of passion and dedication I encountered each day from staff and volunteers. From working with Don Bright at the parking duty stands to talking with Associate Director of Marketing Michelle Iskowitz, every experience was eye-opening as to what Loaves & Fishes represents. The truth is Loaves & Fishes is more than a non-profit organization, it is a family dedicated to enriching the community to its greatest potential. I would like to especially thank a volunteer who transformed a regular Friday morning into a life-changing experience as he immersed me into the CARES program. Working with Kevin really put into perspective how much we, as volunteers, can help people. He proved to me that the smallest things such as listening and talking with a client can go a long way. Many thanks as well to Manager of Volunteer Services Hilary Nelson as she helped me each step of the way, making this internship a great experience with unforgettable memories.”

Mohan is also involved in leadership including Class Council, Model UN Chapter President, and DECA executive board.
