The City of Naperville is pleased to announce Fire Chief Mark Puknaitis was named President of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association (IFCA). The induction ceremony occurred during the Presidential Banquet at the 68th Illinois Fire Chiefs Conference on Tues., Oct. 16, 2018.

Established in 1951, the IFCA has a long and rich history of supporting the fire service leaders in Illinois. The association provides a forum in which fire department chiefs throughout the state may discuss matters of mutual interest and continue efforts to improve fire service and more effective fire prevention and suppression through educational, legislative and technical means. Membership includes nearly 1,400 fire chief officers from around the state of Illinois who represent over 1,100 Illinois fire departments.

“It is an honor and privilege to have been sworn in as the 68th President of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association,” said Chief Puknaitis. “As I serve my term, I take great pride in doing so while wearing the Naperville Fire patch on my uniform. I am excited to begin my year with a great board made up of fellow chief fire officers dedicated to moving the Illinois Fire Service forward with new and creative ways in providing our services and representing all of our membership in an equitable way.”

Chief Puknaitis’ term as president will run through October 2019.
