Original Post, Oct. 12, 2018 / Veterans Day is fast approaching, which signals Naperville Responds For Veterans annual fundraiser and gala, Cheers For Veterans.
This year Naperville Responds will celebrate our Veterans at the Naperville Embassy Suites, 1823 Abriter Ct. The celebration begins at 5:30PM on Thursday, November 1. The evening will feature guest speaker Dr. Sudip Bose, MD, FACEP, FAAEM, former U.S. Army Major, and Veteran Advocate.
Dr. Bose is one of America’s most experienced doctors in the medical arenas of emergency medicine, mass casualty, disaster care and PTSD. He is a former major in the U.S. Army and an Iraq war Veteran, and was selected the U.S. physician to treat Saddam Hussein after his capture, for which he was honored as a “CNN Hero.”
Dr. Bose enlisted in the military and served for 12 years. He has been awarded numerous medals such as the Combat Medical Badge for participating in combat operations under enemy hostile fire. He was awarded The Bronze Star for serving one of the longest combat tours by a physician since World War II and as one of the sole frontline physicians in the Second Battle of Fallujah.
Dr. Bose was accepted into medical school directly out of Naperville Central High School through the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University, getting his MD at 25. At the age of 28, he was named an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at Texas A&M, making Dr. Bose one of the youngest medical school professors in the country. Later, while serving on faculty as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Dr. Bose co-founded several leading medical education companies.
Guests will be enjoying a selection of fine foods, beverages and desserts. Tickets are $175 per guest and $1,500 for a table of ten. The evening’s activities include a silent and live auction with an incredible array of fine dining certificates, wine, golf, overnight stays, sports memorabilia, and many other items at a variety of price points.
The annual fundraiser will raise funds to assist area Veterans with home repairs and renovations – and to give thanks to all those who have served our great nation.
