NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 8, 2018) – The Board of Directors of Delta Dental of Illinois today announced that John Maples, a former Delta Dental of Illinois board member and veteran sales and marketing professional, has been named president and CEO. Maples will also be president and CEO of Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation and Delta Dental of Illinois’ subsidiary companies.
“John’s impeccable business leadership credentials combined with his knowledge of the dental industry and our company makes him perfectly suited for this role,” said Dr. Frank Maggio, chairman of the Delta Dental of Illinois Board of Directors. “John will be a tremendous asset to Delta Dental of Illinois and its subsidiaries, bringing the vision, innovation and leadership necessary to best position our enterprise of companies for future success as we embark on the next chapter.”
Maples served on the Delta Dental of Illinois Board of Directors for 14 years and brings a wealth of sales and marketing experience gained through more than 35 years in the consumer packaged goods market. Most recently, he was Chief Customer Officer for Campbell’s Snacks. Prior to that, he held the positions of President, Direct Division and Vice President and General Manager, Direct Sales, respectively, at Snyder’s-Lance, Inc., where he was responsible for direct sales, provided strategic direction for the company’s brands and led the company’s e-commerce development. Previous roles also include Senior Vice President of Sales Strategy at ConAgra Foods, Chief Marketing Officer at Primo Water, Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development for PepsiCo on the Walmart and Sam’s Club team, and Vice President for Channel Sales for Quaker Oats.

Maples graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has deep roots in the Naperville area, where he will reside with his wife.
Maples will begin his tenure today and succeeds Bernie Glossy, who is retiring after eight years as president and CEO. Glossy led the company to record premium revenue growth and sales, and also made significant strides in improving oral health in Illinois.
