Art Talk – October is Arts DuPage Month

-

Arts DuPage Month makes its debut in October 2018, bringing with it an invitation to discover the vibrant arts scene flourishing within DuPage County. Launched by Arts DuPage, a countywide arts council operating under the wing of the DuPage Foundation, Arts DuPage Month shines a light on the entertaining, provocative, and unique art and cultural experiences available locally. Following in the footsteps of Americans for the Arts, Arts DuPage Month was modeled after Arts & Humanities month, a coast-to-coast collective recognition of the importance of culture in America.

Through this initiative, artists, businesses, and art lovers connect and engage in amazing offerings that may otherwise go unnoticed. Arts DuPage takes the national focus and drives it home to DuPage County to showcase the rich artistic local landscape that surrounds and inspires us.

All Arts DuPage Month events are enhanced with special twists and incentives so that participants can enjoy elevated artistic encounters that include guest speakers, admission discounts, backstage tours and delicious treats. By upping the ante, Arts DuPage aims to attract those ambivalent towards the arts and show them that there is an exciting world of activities waiting to be discovered.

Designated Arts DuPage Month events can easily be found on www.ArtsDuPage.org, DuPage County’s comprehensive website featuring arts and cultural events and activities. The website is easy to navigate and features separate searchable categories in theater, music, dance, visual arts, museums, art festivals, literature, family fun, classes and free events as well as additional listings of classes and workshops, performances, fundraisers, organizations, venues, public art, and individual artists.

By providing the public with comprehensive information about what to do and where to go for unique cultural experiences, Arts DuPage organizers hope to inspire greater participation in the broad range of arts’ events and activities. Their goal is to bring attention to the County’s vibrant arts and cultural sector so that it can be leveraged to improve the quality of life in DuPage County, making it a better place to live and visit.
