Presented by the First Division Museum at Cantigny Park, this acclaimed program commemorates the centennial anniversary of World War I. The Naperville Farmer’s Market is a rain/shine event that is held every Saturday through October 27 in the parking lot of 5th Avenue Station. This is a pet-free market. Over 25 vendors that offer anything from produce, to meat, to flowers, along with hot coffee.

The Naperville Professional Firefighters for a Cause and the Naperville Fire Department will host Stop, Drop and Run 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s Camp ‘I am Me.’ Register between 7-8AM. Naperville Police and Fire Departments will “partner for prevention” with demonstrations, safety information and activities for all ages when they join forces from 10AM to 2PM on Sat., Sept. 29, for the annual Public Safety Open House. Great family event with reminders about public safety from McGruff the Crime Dog and Sparky the Fire Dog. Come for a fun way to learn about public safety and to remember that “Keeping our community safe is everybody’s responsibility.”

It’s the smallest fest at The Growing Place  but they are doing it in a BIG way. Imaginations will soar as kids shrink in Goldfinch Prairie before being transported to Mini Hollow for a mini adventure. Back at the campground, there will be food, fun, and games while making mini gardens with mini bears and all sorts of mini activities! For the adults in the group, we’ll have small space garden ideas all throughout the garden center for inspiration AND you can sign up for a FREE 15-minute Mini Design Sessions either day. These short sessions are great for small do-it-yourself projects or one small area of your yard. Pre-registration for mini-design sessions required. Call 630-355-4000 to register. The North Central College Arts calendar presents a wide array of performances and art exhibits throughout the year. Next up singer Rick Springfield returns on September 29. For more than four decades, Rick Springfield has been entertaining and performing. The creator of some of the finest power-pop of the ’80s, a Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and musician who has sold 25 million albums and scored 17 U.S. Top 40 hits, including “Jessie’s Girl,” “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “An Affair of the Heart,” “I’ve Done Everything for You,” “Love Somebody,” and “Human Touch.” Seating still available in the balcony.

Laughing Lincoln Jubilee – 1PM | $5-10

The Jubilee is a celebration of young Abraham Lincoln and young Naperville. The cornerstone base for the 50th location of Century Walk public art – the life-size sculpture of Abraham Lincoln – will be dedicated during the Jubilee celebration. (The actual sculpture will be dedicated during the Illinois Bicentennial Birthday Bash on December 2, 2018.) A 19th-century county fair atmosphere welcomes people of all ages. Free concert seating & playground. $10 ($5 under 21) admission to the Central Lawn. Event fencing surrounds the Central Lawn. $5 beer & wine available on the Central Lawn. Tickets available for experiences, food & beverages and trolley rides to Century Walk art locations. The Jubilee is a fundraiser to support the Laughing Lincoln sculpture and Century Walk.
