Learn the art of blacksmithing with an introduction to safety, tools, and the forge in this two-session class. Participants will learn hammer techniques while making an item to take home. For adults 18 & up.
Grandparents Day and Sweet Treat Sunday

Celebrate National Grandparents Day by making memories with your grandparents at Naper Settlement! Enjoy intergenerational family activities in the historic buildings, Touch-A-Truck vehicles, and Illinois agriculture activities from the Future Farmers of America. Between 2 and 3:30PM, guests will be treated to free ice cream from Colonial Café while supplies last.

Looking for a spectacular floral arrangement to wow at your next dinner party? Check out the Weed Ladies Fall Sale for all your decor needs! The Weed Ladies are a volunteer based group in the Daniels house at Naper Settlement, crafting beautiful seasonal floral arrangements with silk and dried flowers. Their signature dried bouquets make a stunning addition to any table setting. All proceeds benefit Naperville Heritage Society and Naper Settlement.
Paint by Numbers BEER

Experience a new take on the paint and sip scene! Relive your childhood of Painting by Numbers, only this time enjoy a beer as you fill in the canvas! Bring friends to learn about the history of Paint by Numbers, get inspired by vintage examples, and then finish your own painting. Adults only – must be 21 years of age and older to participate in this program.

History Speaks Lecture Series: The History of the Chicago Stockyards

Non-Members: $10/adult, $9/youth (4-12) and students, Members: $8/adult, $7/ youth (4-12)
Join author Richard Lindberg for a presentation on the history of the famed Chicago stockyards; the birth of an industry in the 1830s; and the opening of the “Yards” in 1865 until the final bell sounded in 1971. It was a city within a city – truly the “Hog Butcher to the World” and a sprawling colorful saga. Lindberg’s presentation also covers Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle and its impact on bringing much needed reform to the yards, improvements to sanitary conditions, and the tale of “Bubbly Creek,” the polluted waterway that has never fully recovered from the environmental damage of a hundred years ago. The lecture is held in Century Memorial Chapel.
Fourth Thursday Evenings

Come experience curator-led tours of our 2018 signature exhibits, “ME=WE” and “Come As You Are”, followed by a unique experience encompassing exhibit themes. In September, patrons will enjoy the magic of dance as Sutikshna Veeravalli and Yuan Yuan perform traditional cultural dances from India and China. Naper Settlement is open late from 4-8 PM. This program is free with general admission and is available at our winter rate admission price.
Did You Know? Naperville residents receive free general admission with proof of residency. Not applicable for special events. And, the Rita (Fredenhagen) and John Harvard Early Learning Playscape features a splashpad with water features (turned on weather permitting).
