As we reach the mid-way point of summer, many Napervillians hit the road for a much-anticipated summer holiday or a trip to visit relatives.
When they leave “The Ville,” residents can stay connected to their hometown by watching NCTV17 via live-stream and on-demand video at NCTV17.com. And for those who really have a FOMO, they can sign up to receive Naperville Now – our daily news video email. That will ensure they are the first to know what’s happening around town, from City Hall to the individual neighborhoods.
Starting this summer, the station is giving residents another way to engage with their community by “listening” to three of our most popular shows via NCTV17 Podcasts. Side note: the term “podcasting” is a portmanteau made from “iPod” and “broadcast” and podcasting has been around since 2003 when David Winer compiled various interviews conducted by NPR host, Christopher Lydon, on an RSS feed.
So why is NCTV17 doing Podcasts?
Well, there are times when viewers simply cannot watch our video content (or at least not safely): when they run, when they are driving the car, or when they are cutting the grass.
However, through the magic of an RSS feed, a cell phone and a pair of earbuds, they can now listen to Authors Revealed with Becky Anderson, The Naperville Moms Network with Dr. Cathy Subber, or Inside the Chamber with Nicki Anderson.
Whether your interests lie in conversations about “Mommy Wars” or finding out why Naperville native, Robert Fieseler, wrote his new book “Tinderbox”, or hearing what Illinois Lt. Governor Evelyn Sanguinette has to say about the opioid drug crisis, NCTV17 has you covered.
You can check out the latest Podcast episodes at www.nctv17.com/podcasts or subscribe to NCTV17 Podcasts on any of these platforms Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, and Stitcher.
So, when you pack the minivan and head out for the long drive to grandma’s house, take NCTV17 with you!
