Senior Voices – Positively Naperville website is chock full of surprises

-

Thankfully the Memorial Day Parade was canceled due to extreme heat. I remember when my kids marched in the Beebe School and Washington Jr. High band in their heavy wool uniforms. It was so hot that several walkers went along with them with spray water bottles to spray them as they marched. This year, I was so happy to get the early call that the parade was canceled as it was too hot for us seniors to walk. Thanks, Naperville, for making it safe for our kids and seniors.

I also had a surprise recently. I’d never clicked onto the Positively Naperville website. I didn’t know it shows all the past Senior Voices stories. Go to www.positivelynaperville.com. Then in search, type “Senior Voices.”

Another surprise to me was several replies from readers to some of my articles. So I responded to them. Better late than never. Feel free to let me know your thoughts about the articles. One reader stated she had sent her Mother the one on new Medicare cards.

Charity Golf Outings

Another PN web page lists the local public, private, park district golf courses and all the charity golf outings, too. What a great page now that it’s golf season. I was amazed at how many local charity golf events are scheduled. Go to www.positivelynaperville.com/charity-golf-outings. Naperville really is a golf town!

Chuckle Time: A young man and a priest are playing golf together. At a short par-3 the priest asks, “What are you going to use on this hole, my son?”

The lad responds, “An 8 iron, Father. How about you?”

The priest says “I’m going to hit a soft seven and pray.”

The young man hits his 8-iron and puts the ball on the green. The priest tops his 7-iron and dribbles the ball out only a few yards.

The young man says, “I don’t know about you, Father, but in my church, when we pray, we keep our head down.
