Early morning traffic crash at Route 59 and 95th Street results in DUI charge

-

On Friday, June 29  at approximately 2:14AM, the Naperville Police and Fire Departments responded to Route 59 and 95th Street for a vehicle crash with injuries involving a 2017 Indian Touring motorcycle and a semi-tractor trailer. The initial investigation indicates that both vehicles were northbound on Route 59 at the intersection of 95th Street when the motorcycle, driven by 49-year-old Mauro Apostoli of West Chicago, collided with the rear of the semi-tractor trailer.

Apostoli was transported to Edward Hospital with serious injuries. Due to the nature of the incident, members of the Naperville Traffic Unit trained in accident investigation and reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate the crash. During the course of the initial investigation, northbound Route 59 was closed at 95th Street, and traffic was diverted until approximately 8AM.

Apostoli was charged with one count of driving while under the influence of alcohol. No charges have been filed against the 45-year-old Villa Park man who was driving the semi. The accident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (630) 420-8833.
