Original Post, June 18, 2019 / Center Stage Theater is set for the opening of God Help Us!, a political comedy starring Ed Asner on Fri., August 24.

Written by Samuel Warren Joseph and Phil Proctor, produced by Liza Asner and directed by Mitch Levine, a local supporting cast will include Kandiss Hernandez, Stuant Vance, Karen Coleman and others.

“God Help Us!” suggests maybe only the Lord can bring individuals together in this hilarious and insightful entertainment, where the debate gets hot and the passion gets hotter. God – performed by legendary actor, Ed Asner – is a wise, cantankerous and wildly funny deity who confronts two political pundits with a romantic history: Lawrence (a liberal lad) and Leslie (a conservative gal). He is not at all pleased with the country’s politics or what’s been done to his Creation. God Help Us! speaks to audiences of all political persuasions with one essential argument: that we have to listen to each other so that we can all live – and laugh – together.

“Stuart Vance, a kindergarten teacher from Springbrook, will perform with me for two shows,” said Kandiss Hernandez, founder/owner of Center Stage Theater. “And Karen Coleman from the Naperville Jaycees and another business man will take the stage in two shows.”

Show dates will run August 24-26, 2018. Performances are slated for 7:30PM, Fri., Aug. 24; 4PM and 7:30PM, Sat., Aug. 25 and 4PM Sun., Aug. 26.

Tickets are $15 for students; $20 for adults.
